MASTER RACING INFORMATION 2011-12

The Southern Alpine Racing Association (SARA) will commence the 2011-12 racing season on December 27th with Slalom at Bryce Mountain in Virginia. The masters have the opportunity to cut down on their traveling schedule by racing just in North Carolina, Virginia or West Virginia. The racers from the different regions may finally meet at the 2011/2012 SARA Championships at Sugar Mountain Resort, North Carolina. The SARA Championship event will be held on February 25th and 26th. Details about the Championship will be posted beginning February.

MASTER RACING AWARDS
Since the number of racers is still fairly low in this geographical region, the race awards will be applied as follows:

Class 1 & 2 (21-34 years)
Class 3 & 4 (35-44 years)
Class 5 & 6 (45-54 years)
Class 7 & above (55 years and older)

USSA MASTER RACING
Masters are unique among the participants in the most popular snow sport: alpine skiing. Not content to rest upon past successes, master racers seek to reach their best beyond the public perception of “prime years.” Masters racing is designed for every level of skier ability. Masters racing provides the next step for up and coming accomplished skiers who are late bloomers, NASTAR and college racers, ski instructors and other professionals.
